Improving State Test Scores in Michigan

Thursday June 17, 2004:

Fourth grade teacher Michelle Chase recently saw a tremendous upswing in her class’ state-standardized math test scores. The testing results for her class at Inverness Elementary in Cheboygan, Michigan indicate the students scored 20 percentage points higher overall than any other fourth grade in the district and 20 percentage points higher than the state average.

Mrs. Chase has been actively using eInstruction’s Classroom Performance System with her students over the past year, and lobbying for more systems at Inverness Elementary. She writes, “I credit a large part of this success to the use of the CPS system. The immediate feedback during instruction and the quick grading allowed me to be an extremely efficient teacher!”

This resourceful instructor uses the Verbal question feature of CPS to check for understanding. She also saves administrative time with the attendance feature, tracks student progress with reports, and sends home study guides after quizzes for parental involvement. Mrs. Chase shares that her students love the Classroom Performance System and strive to do better in class because CPS “gives [students] an ownership in their learning process.”

eInstruction Corp. is the global leader in interactive response systems with over 600,000 response pads in the marketplace. All over the world teachers are maximizing productivity with CPS, and students cheer for the chance to use the response pads. eInstruction salutes Michelle Chase for her innovation with technology and her students for their tremendous test scores. Congratulations on your great success!
